A very rare specimen! Hated by farmers, feared by cows. THis is the Creepng Cattle Snatcher.
I had a lot of fun with this piece. Originally I was intending to just design the creature, but after getting into it I decided to illustrate the beast in action. I tried to create a beautiful and calm atmosphere to contrast whats about to happen. Also, I was playing with the idea of how hard it is to miss this giant monster, unless your a stupid cow concerned only with food.
I have submitted this to Bob Chiu to be included in his latest book, "Creature Sketches" available at

I was inspired by the movie poster for Nikita, la Femme Fatale. An old pulp fiction film.
imdb has the image here
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100263/

I took an approach in attempts to achieve the stylized interpretation I had conjured in my mind. I drew it out, focusing on symplifying her curves down into c's and s's. I slightly altered her pose, revealing a little bit of cleavage. and tilting here head down, avoiding the up the nose shot. I wanted sharp graphic shapes, containing detailed illustrative rendering. Originally I spent some time creating pen tool shapes in photoshop, intending to paint within them. I found this gave wierd pixelated edges even at 300 dpi, 11 by 17 inches. I ended up painting in all her shapes with a solid hard brush, and then used those shapes as selections to paint within.

Hope u enjoy.

Theres two possibilities here.

A
A grim reaper has conditioned a young female into his perfect apprentice. A sexy puppet of death, she lures in unsuspecting men to certain fatality.

B
A cunning young woman has used her smarts and sex appeal to move up in the ranks of the underworld, eventually earning the affection of a reaper. Death thinks he has the upper hand, when really he is being manipulated.

I was deeply inspired by all of the master portraiture I saw there. Titian, Cezanne, Rembrandt, Géricault, Renoir. So much more powerful in person then in print. Some ideas came to mind as far as technique.

Here I attempted to capture the presence of this young man from photo, while experimenting with technique. The background I hope further describes his character, as simple as it is.
Brad responded with a wonderful vision of a film created mostly in live action, but with a visual stylization pushed as far as good animation. I was asked if I could do some character concepts, with Edward Gorey as inspiration, to be used in Brad's package. This image was my favorite design I came up with, depicting "the Peelers", the incompetant police in the world of Eddie Dickens.
GREAT NEWS: I spoke to Brad Peyton yesterday and the package he submitted to Warner Bros, which included this and some more of my designs, was approved. Brad will be directing "Eddie Dickens and the Awful End".
